1. Blue Lagoon, Comino
Excellent snorkel around the rocks on the north, or swim across the lagoon, and do a little "extreme snorkelling" through the dark, eerie cave on Cominetto
2. Ghar Lapsi, Malta
Easy access, plenty of fish, and photogenic underwater. Also brilliant lattes at a very good cafe
3. Paradise Bay, Malta
Lots to see around the headland, away from the beach
4. Xwieni, Gozo
Delightful bay, with good snorkelling around the boulders in the shallows
5. Marfa Bay, Malta
In the shadow of the Gozo ferry, but still very good
6. Ghajn Tuffieha, Malta
Good beach, with not bad snorkelling. Some surface debris to contend with
7. Wied iz-Zurrieq, Malta
A deep inlet/harbour, with clear water. Not much to see though, unless you are into boat moorings
8. Mgarr ix-Xinni, Gozo
A beautiful spot, but a disappointing dive in poor visibility. We did see an eel, crab, and a few fish, but not enough
to make it enjoyable.
9. The Inland Sea, Gozo
Another beautiful and popular spot, but with very poor visibility. We moved swiftly on
10. Qawra, Malta
Reasonable clarity and conditions, but there didn't seem a lot to see in the way of sealife
11. Mistra Bay, Malta
Down a slippery ramp, into dirty polluted water. A few fish about, but very poor visibility. Very disappointing. Avoid.
