Tuesday 25th December
Site: Sha'ab el Erg
Weather: Sunny, breezy
Conditions: Little choppy, visibilty very good
A very good way to spend Christmas Day. A pretty good reef, with plenty of life, including a huge shoal of Sergeant Majors
and the first Picasso Triggerfish of the trip. Unfortunately, when we did spot three dolphins, snorkelling wasn't allowed as
one of them was with her baby.
Wednesday 26th December
Site: Sharm el Naga
Weather: Sunny
Conditions: Choppy, some current
Visibility:Goodish at first, deteriorated later
Excellent dive along the reef to the left with lots of fish including Masked Puffers, and amazing coral.
The dive to the reef on the right was abandoned as the current was getting strong but, more to the point, viz was not good.
There was still an excellent shoal of Pipefish in the shallow, and a Sribbled Filefish, which intrigued Paul no end
Friday 28th December
Site: Giftun Island
Weather: Sunny
Conditions: Calm
Visibility: Excellent
The first dive contained a huge shoal of Damselfish, quite a few Butterfly and Parrotfish, and some nice coral outcrops. A second
dive was not as interesting but included a Picasso and a very shy red fish, as yet unidentified
Sunday 30th December
Site: El Bayud Reef
Weather: Sunny
Conditions: Choppy
Visibility: A little "misty"
Despite a Unicornfish, and a Topshell, this was heading towards being (by Red Sea standards) a disappointment.
However, it was redeemed somewhat by some HUGE Angelfish, and by the chance to dive a wreck in very shallow water.
Wednesday 2nd January

Weather: Sunny
Conditions: Calm
Visibility: Very good
Back to Sharm el Naga and, quite simply, the dive of the holiday - simply superb. Teeming with fish, and beautiful corals.
At long long last, Paul gets to see his first Octopus.
